Sustainable Last Rites for a Greener Tomorrow
PRESPL’s eco cremation initiative offers an environmentally responsible alternative to traditional wood-based cremation practices. Utilizing briquettes instead of conventional firewood, each eco cremation can save up to 350–400 kg of wood per ceremony. This not only helps conserve forests but also reduces carbon emissions by approximately 250–300 kg CO₂ per cremation.
To date, PRESPL has facilitated over 10,000 eco cremations across India, resulting in the conservation of more than 3,500 metric tonnes of wood and the reduction of nearly 3,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The use of biomass briquettes ensures a smokeless, efficient burn, improving air quality at cremation sites and supporting public health.
By promoting eco cremation, PRESPL is advancing a circular economy, creating new markets for agri-residue biofuels, and setting new standards for sustainable and dignified last rites.
